25 years after being together, the boys 'bad boys' Mike Lovre (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) are at the crossroads of their exciting lives. But even as one of them seeks out, a dramatic turn of events leads them to more deaths, destruction and shocking revelations.

It is the year 2020 and Marcus now wants to live a peaceful family life away from all violence. But his partner in crime Mike cannot let go so easily because this time, the horrors of his past have come to haunt him and destroy the world around him. He must do this to protect himself and exact revenge, but first, he needs to convince Marcus to bring him back into the game.

It is a simple plot with many new additions to the cast. But one that leaves a lasting impression is the film's main villain Armando Eretas (Jacob Scipio) - a young young leader of a Mexican drug cartel whose fatalism sees his child's face well. Mexican-American actress Kate Del Castillo is also impressive as the ruthless widow Isabel Aretus, who literally calls the shots in this high-octane action comedy. The new crack team called AMMO, led by Kelly (Vanessa Hudgens), has more young blood (Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton) and injects much-needed freshness into the proceedings. However, it is the film's lead pair that takes their ideal camaraderie up a notch. They are the strongest together. Then whether it is Will Smith's towering personality or fisticuffs or Martin's poker-faced, it works.

Directors Adil and Bilal pulled out all the stops to make it more exciting. The film's narrative and execution remain faithful to the general trappings of the testosterone-led action entertainer with shocking developments that will often keep you on edge. While action and comedy elements such as high-speed chase and witty one-liners work, the pace decreases in parts. However, the climax of the film is filled with more staggering (almost too dramatic) revelations and some finely executed action in the picturesque locations of Miami (Mexico).
